Virtual Crossfade

Let me sketch an idea that ocurred to me today. It’s about the relationship of two parameters of architecture in both worlds, the real and the virtual.

In the real world architecture on the physical level has mainly a negative function (in prohibition and control of the movement of air, water, human beings). on the other hand, in virtual worlds architecture on the projected physical level has the function of affirmation or creation of virtual space.

here (in the virtual) the negation takes place on the level of meaning, i.e. the differentiation of the qualities of space, the process where spaces become places. In the real world on the level of meaning-control architecture has to be affirmative, not differentiative.

I tried to visualize this crossfading function in the above image. But don’t nail me on that, it’s not thought through in all its consequences. For instance take the point where both functions cross each other and become zero on the affirmative/negative axis ;-) what does that mean???
